Death, When You Carry Me Out…

Death, when you carry me out,
be careful not to drop my soul.
Be gentle please, as kind and
soft as you can be, for I know
you travel different roads and
some go where no one would
ever want to be, if… if they
had known in life where 
their wasted hearts would 
lead….

Nolo Segundo, pen name of L.j.Carber, 77, became a late blooming published poet in his 8^th decade in over 210 literary journals in 17 countries. A retired teacher [ America, Japan, Taiwan, the war zone of Cambodia, 1973-74] he has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and thrice for Best of the Net.  Cyberwit.net has published 3 collections in paperback: The Enormity of Existence; Of Ether and Earth; and Soul Songs. The titles reflect awareness gained over 50 years ago when he almost drowned in a Vermont river: that he has, or rather is a consciousness predating birth and surviving death, what poets since Plato have called the soul.

Please find attached 3 poems and thank you for not charging fees; I also wish you the best of luck with your new lit mag!  All 3 poems are about death, but from the viewpoint that death is really only an awakening, while birth is a  falling asleep—not a worldview I know shared by secular materialists, of which I was one myself until 53 years ago when I took an irreversible leap, as you can deduce from my bio:
