The Broken People
I am watching them mend the broken people. The ones who slipped and fell, The ones with no visible injuries, just broken inside. Some are glass, some are stone, some mend quickly, others over time. All are fragile, even granite chips. And then they let them go, back into the shambles of society, with their stitched on smiles and encouraging words, and instructions not to stumble again. But they do. We all do.
Brian Moses has been labelled 'one of Britain's favourite children's poets' by the National Poetry Archive. He has worked as a professional poet since 1988 and continues to perform his poetry and percussion shows in schools, libraries, theatres and festivals around the UK and abroad. He was asked by CBBC to write a poem for the Queen's 80th Birthday, invited by Prince Charles to speak at the Prince's Summer conference at Cambridge University and has been a keynote speaker at literacy conferences in London & Madrid. He has written or edited over 200 books including Lost Magic The Very Best of Brian Moses (Macmillan) and his latest book On Poetry Street (Scallywag Press, 2024). Over 1 million copies of Brian’s poetry books and anthologies have been sold by Macmillan.
